Five Noise Monitoring Station across Chennai – Under the Control of CPCB

During the endeavor of receiving wide-ranging info on noise pollution, the city will be receiving five extra synchronized noise monitoring stations.

The apparatus will be soon installed at Velachery, Anna Nagar, Mint and two other main parts of the city.

These two spots are yet to decide and most probably it will be situating at the Corporation office buildings, stated a senior official of the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB).

These five noise monitoring stations will be the fragment of the National Ambient Noise Monitoring Network, framing up by the CPCB. In turn CPCB has been internally in link with several State pollution control boards.

This network will be framed with the premise of cost-sharing foundation. A recent report released by the Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board sources revealed that, about Rs.34 lakh has been already given by them in order to import the apparatus.

This proposal has been agreed by many experts and particularly got a welcome nod from Rajesh Rangarajan, an environmental expert and researcher. Moreover, the gained info will be in no way intended to drive choices and improvements in the arena.
