Over 2.5 lakh passports distributed in Coimbatore passport office

Ever since the inception of passport services in Coimbatore, various passport applications that were piled up are now getting cleared gradually. Now, there is nothing so called pending applications.
Applications from eligible applicants are cleared then and there and the passports are distributed to them without any time delay. In case of passport application through normal procedure, the applicant will receive it within 30 days of application. This will involve police verification before distribution of passport. On the other hand, those applying in Tatkal will receive in 3 days. In tatkal, the police verification will be done post-distribution. Earlier, police verification took long time and this seemed to be one of the key reasons for delay in receiving passport. This however is now changed and the entire process is made faster.
Passport applicants ought to take care that their name is mentioned properly on the school certificates and other identity proofs you submit.
Here, in Coimbatore passport office, there are over 573 applicants every day. Between 2008 and 2014, nearly 2,42,711 passports are distributed here.
