A cup of coffee is now very expensive. The cost of coffee beans has mounted high in the past weeks and the cost of the premium powder ranges between Rs.440 to Rs.450 per kilo.
Due to the increase in exports, the prices reached high, and
even we assume that the prices to tap Rs.500 before the downhill, the industry
sources said.
One kilo of coffee dust will turn out the decoction for 60
cups of coffee, and along with one litre of milk we can put up nearly 10 cups
of coffee, described a coffee-master of a prime hotel.
The main reason behind the price hike is because, the coffee
beans lies as part of the forward trading, said R. Srinivasan, the secretary of
Tamil Nadu Hotels Association. If a bulk sum is cornered in the forward trading
market, the prices elevate high and it will come down once it has been
off-loaded. As representative of the
association, we are requesting the central government to forbid forward
trading, he added.
T.R.Srivatasan, managing director of the ‘Only Coffee India Private
Ltd’ said that they have no idea of increasing the prices of coffee as of now. We
will abide the price rise and not surpass it on to the customers, he added.
