One person dead at the bomb blat at Chennai Central Railway Station – Prime Minister has strong objections

A double bomb blast occurred on the 9th platform at the Chennai Central Railway Station yesterday (1st May) morning. Following the very loud blast, there was commotion in the area.

Guwahati-Bengaluru ex[press was arriving at platform 9 when the blasts occurred. 2 bombs exploded at coaches S3 & S5.

10 persons were injured as per the railway security personnel. They have been admiited at the Rajiv Gandhi General Hospital for priority treatment.The 2 coaches were completely damaged.

One person (female) died in the blast on the spot and has been identified as Ms. Swathi, from Guntur, Andhra Pradesh.More security police has been deployed at Chennai Central railway Station.

An ISI agent from Pakistan, Zakir Hussain, was arrested at Chennai on 29th April. Now, the bomb blast has occurred.The Home Ministry has ordered the state government to submit a report on this incident.

Compensation


An amount of Rs. 1 lakh has been granted as compensation for the dead woman’s family. Rs. 25,000 has been offered to the severely injured, and Rs. 5000 for the persons slightly injured.

The railway official informed that there was a call from railway Minister to know about the incident. All other trains will run normally.
