BIO-SAFETY OF GM MOSQUITO IS NOT CONFIRMED YET

S Elango, the Director of Public Health said bio-safety of Genetically Modified mosquitoes being developed by the researches worldwide to fight diseases like Malaria, Chikungunya, Dengue and vector- borne diseases need clarification. Unless the concerned bodies clarify and directorate becomes sure, they will not recommend GM Mosquitoes to Government for application. He clarified that Government cannot take chances unless safety was guaranteed, as it concerns millions of population.
