Pike Summer brings Dearth- Veggie Prices Upshots!

As summer chasing its peak, begets drought in many places over the State and hence for the past few weeks, vegetable and fruit prices towers in the city.

As per the report of the wholesale vegetable vendor at Koyambedu, short of rain and water this summer has outcome in the impulsive hike in the vegetable prices equal to 20 % in the past two weeks.

Even though city didn’t arrive at the peak summer month yet, people have already met with the high vegetable prices, particularly in case of daily usable veggies.

The prices of vegetables may even go shoddier in the impending months, says Soundarajan, a vegetable vendor at Koyambedu.

Since last week, the prices of the prime vegetables including are beans, broad-beans (avarai), carrot, chayote (chow-chow) and tomato has raised triple the rate in the retail market.

Also the vegetable heaps loaded in the wholesale market has descended, which has in turn augmented the prices.

We didn’t anticipated this much amplified prices of vegetables, stated both the wholesalers and retailers at the Koyambedu market.

Also this is the season, where the vegetables are susceptible to perish easily and quickly, said Babu of Pazhamudir cholai, West Mambalam.
