The strength of the young voters is 1, 20,61,942. Of them, first-time voters, accounting for 15, 08,473, constitute 2.74 per cent of the total electors.
Praveen Kumar, Chief Electoral Officer, says that 65 per cent of persons in the age group have been covered, while comparing with the census data. This is as per the electoral roll released on April 5. If one were to go by the electoral roll, as published on January 10, the figure of coverage was 49 per cent.
