New low in car rental business

Posted on: 24/Apr/2014 10:10:43 AM
During this Lok Sabha election, it is found that the car rental businesses are hitting low ranges. A lack of demand is identified this time. Speaking to the president of Chennai Tourist Taxi Owners Association, M.P. Balakrishnan, he said that there was good demand for cars during previous elections, but this time it’s entirely changed.

There used to be demand for more than 100 taxies, but now there is not even half of it, he added. Increased fuel rates are also among the major reasons behind this condition. Also, many owners fear of getting delayed payments and refrain from renting their vehicles. Additionally, the Election Commission has imposed stringent regulations on the expenses of parties towards election campaigns. All these together have left the parties afraid of giving purchase orders (PO) to taxi owners, he said. It is the purchase order that gives assurance to taxi owners for getting prompt payments. But as the parties fail to give PO, taxi owners are afraid to rent their cars.
