Chennaites to enjoy cool weather for some days

Posted on: 10/Apr/2014 12:38:55 PM
Chennaites who were experiencing high temperature will feel little cooler because temperature is likely to come down a little in the next couple of days with the influence of isolated rainfall in some parts of the state

Owing to a trough formed near the south Tamil Nadu region, places such as Kanyakumari, Coimbatore and Tirunelveli have been receiving some rainfall. Although Chennai will not receive any rains, the temperature could come down a little during the next couple of days due to clouding, according to the weather department.

"There is little possibility of the city receiving rainfall, but the sky condition would be partly cloudy," said a duty officer at the Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) in Nungambakkam.

On Wednesday, the city recorded a maximum temperature of 35.8 degrees Celsius and the airport weather station at Meenambakkam recorded a maximum temperature of 37.9 degrees Celsius. Last week, the maximum in the city reached 38 degrees Celsius.

Clouds have brought down the maximum temperature but created an increase in the minimum temperature as they block earth`s radiation from escaping in the night. The city and the suburbs have been recording a temperature of 27 degrees Celsius in the mornings for the past three days
