A Bench of Chief Justice P. Sathasivam and Justice Ranjan Gogoi heard senior counsel T.R. Andhyarujina and Additional Solicitor-General P. Wilson, who appeared for the NHAI, and senior counsel Rakesh Dwivedi and Additional Advocate-General Subramonium Prasad, who appeared for the State.

The Bench said that since the State was apprehensive of the impact of erecting of 32 pillars in the middle of the Cooum river, it would seek expert opinion on whether or not the construction would result in flooding. The Bench granted the parties four weeks’ time to suggest an expert body which could be entrusted with the task. It, however, did not stay the ongoing work.
