State government hikes dearness allowance by 10 per cent

Dearness allowance was hiked by 10% cent with retrospective effective from January 1, 2014 by the Tamil Nadu State Government. The DA hike will be paid in cash immediately. This follows the Central government’s recent announcement about hiking DA for its employees from 90 per cent to 100 per cent with effect from January 1, 2014.
The DA hike will apply to teaching and non teaching staff working in aided educational institutions, employees under local bodies, employees governed by the UGC and AICTE scales of pay, the teachers, physical directors, librarians in government and aided polytechnics and Special Diploma Institutions, village assistants in the Revenue Department, noon meal organizers, child welfare organizers, anganwadi workers, cooks, helpers, panchayat assistants and clerks in the village panchayat and sanitary workers.
