Students, develop a mobile app and win Rs 3 lakh

Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has come up with an interesting idea to create awareness among investors. Students are invited to create entertaining mobile applications that will impart financial education and investor education. The best of all will receive a reward of Rs 3 lakh.
SEBI unveiled details of the contest, ‘Mobile Apps Development Contest’. Students from graduation or post-graduation levels are welcome to take part. In the initial phase, students ought to develop games and educational mobile apps for android smartphones.
Speaking to the officials at SEBI, they said this to be an initiative to make use of mass communication – gadgets, smartphones, applications and modern technology - to create awareness about securities market and financial education in an entertaining and engaging way.
The first prize winning mobile app design will receive Rs 3 lakh; second and third prize winners will receive Rs 2 lakh and one lakh respectively. The contest will also have a consolation price of Rs 50,000. Additionally, 10 exclusively qualified mobile applications or games will be rewarded with Rs 25,000 cash prize. The last date for sending entries for the contest is May 15.
To note, these mobile applications should be compatible for usage in Google Android 2.2 and above Jelly Bean version.
