Public Holiday on Election Day - IT firms are not exempted

24th April is the Election Day in Tamil Nadu. Tamil Nadu Chief Election Office, Mr. Pravin Kumar has declared all companies, including the IT (Information Technology) sector must observe holiday with wages paid.
Election will be on conducted in Tamil Nadu for 39 Parliamentary seats and the Legislative Assembly seat at Alandur. To facilitate all the voters to exercise their voting franchise, this day must be declared as a holiday with paid wages. An order regarding this has been sent by the Tamil Nadu Election Commission to the Tamil Nadu Labour Welfare Board. Action will be taken by the Labour Welfare Board on companies which fail to follow this order.
