E-return details must be sent by Speedpost

For the individuals who e-file their income-tax returns, the procedure up to now was to send it by post to the Income tax Office at Bangalore. However, many of the filed income-tax returns did not reach the Central Income tax office. Many individuals were affected by this.
As a result, the income tax department is examining the possibility of doing away with the postal mail and introduces the system of digital signature with prompt receipt of e-filed income-tax returns. This will be introduced after discussions with the ministry and senior officials of the income tax department.
Meanwhile, income tax department has announced that the individuals who file on-line income tax returns should send the details only by Speed post.
It has been observed the the introduction of e-filing facility has increased by 40% as compared to the last year..
Steps to simplify the e-filing procedure will be taken up.
