Retired Chennai DGP Sripal passes away

Retried Chennai DGP Mr. Sripal, who held the highest post of DGP and excellent performance in his career, passed away today (25thmarch) in the afternoon.

He was residing in T.nagar. Today, in the afternoon, he had a sudden heart attack at 11.30 AM. .Even as he was being taken to a private hospital for treatment, he died. He was 76.

Mr. Sripal was versatile in several fields. He was the president of the Jain research Centre. He was also a member of the Tamil Nadu planning Commission.

Mr. Sripal has worked as Police Commissioner. He had the distinction of being the longest server in this post. He was the DGP from 1991 to 1995.He also worked as a honorary professor in Chennai University. He was an expert in Jainism and used that when he did his post-graduation and research.

He has contributed largely to the Jain Community. Several publications on Jainism research were published with his help.

He leaves his wife, Dr. kamali Sripal, and 2 daughters and a son. They are abroad and final rites will be performed when they return.
