Currently, the price of the river sand has been goes down because of the aperture of new sand quarries and transient pause in the construction pursuits.

The price per cubic feet of the river sand has been fluctuating between Rs.50 to Rs.55 comparing to Rs.70 during last year.It is anticipated that even more the price will go down, as there will be possibility of opening extra quarries in Thiruvallur and Villupuram districts.

The Public Works Department officials told that the river sand is being abounded from 10 of its quarries in places like Thiruvallur, Cuddalore, Villupuram and Vellore districts. Presently, around 150 lorry loads have been seized out from each of these mentioned quarries every day.

The State Government involved in opening new quarries in two more districts during the middle of March, in order to contest the mounting prices of the river sand.

A spokesperson of the Builders’ Association of India during his descriptive speech said even though there are few impurities in the river sand incoming from certain quarries, it is delving any serious issues.

The key reason behind the fall in the price is because of the less demand for it from the construction endeavors for the past months and the builder’s anticipation is that the price may even go down.
