Central railway station to have children�s assistance centre soon

A committee set up with representatives from Railway Protection Force (RPF), government railway police and railway officials will soon be set up at Chennai Central railway station a children�s assistance centre. The move aims to protect rights of children rescued from trains and stations. �The centre will help railway authorities to rescue abandoned children and monitor child trafficking,� said a senior railway official. Porters, stall-owners at the railway station and autorickshaw drivers will also be taken under the centre�s fold to provide input. The centre will also have a shelter for children and women who could not be shifted to a home after being rescued.
