Chennai Metropolitan Transport Corporation (MTC) plans to run 50 new mini-buses linking all the major rapid rail transport stations.
MTC planned to introduce 100 mini-buses linking the suburbs. The Chief Minister inaugurated this project on 30th October last year with 50 mini-buses. These buses ply in Pallavaram, Ramapuram, Porur, Chromepet, Ambattur, and Koyambedu. The public response has been very good. Rs. 8,000/- is the daily earning for each mini-bus. Some routes earn even more.
In the 2nd stage, the next 50 mini-buses will be introduced. The routes are getting finalized. This time, the focus is more on North Chennai. There is a plan to run bus services to link with the rapid transport railway stations
