Other flyovers to have LED street lights like Mint Street Flyover

The Chennai Corporation is planning to to install LED street lights in all other flyovers like in Mint Street flyover.
On Wednesday, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa threw open the Mint Street flyover to the public.
The Chennai Corporation has installed LED lights which will throw more light in this flyover. Earlier the flyovers in Chennai were fitted with sodium vapor lights. Now Chennai Corporation has decided to install LED lights in the flyovers. An official of Chennai Corporation has mentioned, � Mint Street flyover is 506 meters long. 155 LED lights have been installed in this flyover and service lanes.LED lights will consume less electrical power when compared to sodium vapor lamps. At the same time LED lamps will give more light than sodium vapor lamp. Similarly LED lights have been installed in Bharathidasan Road, Conran Smith Road and Ethiraj Road. Since this has yielded good results, it has been decided to install the LED street lights on the other roads also. Apart from this, 14 thousand LED street lights have been installed in the widened roads and the inner roads. It has also been decided to fit LED street lights with 150 watts power in the flyovers and bus routes. The life span of these lights will be seven years and will automatically switch off and on.�
