Use Voluntary Compliance Encouragement Scheme before December 31

The Commissioner of Service Tax has urged people desirous of using the Voluntary Compliance Encouragement Scheme (VCES) before December 31 when the scheme will close.
Commissioner of Service Tax R. Periasami said those not registered with the department should register before applying for the VCES.
Since the process of registration and updating of data by the National Securities Depository Limited and banks may take a few working days, those wanting to disclose voluntarily have been advised to register as soon as possible. Failure to pay a minimum of 50 per cent of tax dues declared under the scheme by that date will lead to forfeiture of the benefits of the VCES Scheme.
