Chennai and 13 Other Districts May Receive Moderate Rain Today

The Regional Meteorological Centre has forecast light to moderate rain in Chennai and 13 other districts of Tamil Nadu today, with thunderstorms and lightning likely in some areas.

Most parts of Tamil Nadu remained dry yesterday. Several places, including Chennai Meenambakkam, Adirampattinam, Erode, Madurai, Tiruchirappalli, Thanjavur, Tiruthani and Vellore, recorded temperatures above 100°F.

The weather department has also said that maximum temperatures may remain 2–3°C above normal in a few places until September 4, while temperatures in other parts of Tamil Nadu are likely to remain close to normal.

Rain Forecast

Today and tomorrow, one or two places in the Western Ghats districts may receive moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning.

Light to moderate rain with thunderstorms is also likely at one or two places in Chennai, Chengalpattu, Tiruvallur, Kancheepuram, Ranipet, Tiruvannamalai, Villupuram, Kallakurichi, Cuddalore, Tiruchirappalli, Ariyalur, Perambalur, Salem and Namakkal districts.

Other parts of Tamil Nadu may also receive light rain with thunderstorms at isolated locations.
