High-speed internet at rural areas of Tamil Nadu

As a step to take high speed internet connection to homes in rural areas of Tamil Nadu, the telecommunication wing of railways � RaiTel Corporation of India (RaiTel) is now expanding its project by bringing links between optic fiber networks and the existing cable TV connections.
Right now, the internet speed offered by RailWire is between 256 kbps and 10 mbps. This is offered to nearly 2500 subscribers belonging to 32 districts of Tamil Nadu. When enquired about this new step of brining internet to rural areas, one of the officials stated that it is a result of business growth.
