In this scenario, it is now expected that the counselling would start at the end of this July month. It must be noted that before the state counselling All India counselling would start on 21st July.
Across India, 15% of seats for MBBS and BDS courses in government medical and dental colleges are reserved for All India quota. The medical counselling committee or MCC of Directorate General of health services or DGHS is conducting online counselling for these seats and for the MBBS/BDS seats in AIIMS, JIPMER, statutory universities and other universities etc.
Important piece of information is that across TN there are 5200 MBBS seats and these include govt medical colleges, KK Nagar ESI Medical College etc. Through the All India quota, as many as 888 seats are offered. In addition to these, there are as many as 3450 MBBS seats in self-financing medical colleges and 550 seats in the private medical universities for MBBS courses.
In total, counselling would be conducted for 9200 MBBS seats in both govt and private medical colleges in TN. Similarly, there are 250 BDS seats in govt colleges and 1900 seats in private medical colleges. Out of these, 126 seats have been reserved for the govt school students.
