For getting new electricity connections in TN, the amount has been increased now!!
In single as well as in three phases, electricity connections are being provided to the homes in the state of Tamil Nadu is known. For the sake of providing electricity connections to the homes, the EB collects various charges such as meter deposit, electricity usage deposit, development fee, electricity connection fee and registration fee etc. This is one time payment amount only.
There are many people who want to get new electricity connections to their homes in Tamil Nadu.
The news is that TNERC or Tamil Nadu Electricity Regulatory Commission has ordered a 3.16% increase in charges for several services. It includes obtaining a new electricity connection and changing the name of the electricity connection etc.
The day before yesterday the Electricity Regulatory Commission or ERC has issued orders to not only increase the electricity usage fee but also increase various charges.
From today onwards electricity tariffs have increased. That is an increase of up to 0.41 paisa per unit of electricity consumption.
From Rs 1070, the fee for electricity connections for single phase supply has increased to Rs 1105. Likewise, meter deposit fee has been raised to Rs 825 from Rs 800. The development fee has been increased to Rs 3095 from Rs 3000. Likewise, from Rs 215 to Rs 220, the registration fee has been increased now. The deposit amount has been increased from Rs 320 to Rs 330.
In the same way, various fees for obtaining a new electricity connection in the 3 phase section and high voltage sections have been increased also. Point to be noted is that only the development fee is separate for the underground electricity distribution point through the electricity pole.
From Rs 1070, the fee for replacing the damaged electricity meter due to house fire in the low voltage section has been increased to Rs 1105. For changing the name of the electricity connection, an amount of Rs 665 would be collected now. Previously, an amount of Rs 645 was collected for this.
In both the low voltage and in the high voltage categories, the fee amount for many services has been increased now.
