Important notification - Marriage advance amount now increased to Rs 5lakhs for all TN Govt employees!!

An important notification has come out now from the Tamil Nadu government.

According to the notification issued yesterday, the TN government has issued an order to increase the wedding or marriage advance amount to Rs 5 lakhs for all the govt employees.

It is worthy to mention here that for TN govt male employees and sons of the TN govt employees the marriage advance amount was fixed at a maximum of Rs 3000. In the same way, for the TN govt female employees and daughters of the TN govt employees the marriage advance amount was fixed at a maximum of Rs 5000.

In this scenario, orders were issued by the TN govt to increase the marriage advance amount to Rs 6000 for male employees of the TN govt and sons of the TN govt employees. In the same manner, orders were issued to increase the marriage advance amount to Rs 10000 for female TN govt employees and daughters of the TN govt employees.

It is known that in the budget session of 2025-26 the chief minister of TN Mr. M.K. Stalin has announced several welfare schemes for the govt employees in the Assembly under Rule 110 of TN Legislative Assembly. As a part of that, it was decided to increase the marriage advance amount to Rs 500000 for all the govt employees. To implement this, based on the requirements during their service period of the TN govt employees and teachers an amount of Rs 10000 is given the marriage advance amount for female employees and Rs 6000 as marriage advance amount for male employees.

It is now brought out that this marriage advance amount would be increased many times and all the TN govt employees and teachers etc would be provided Rs 500000 in common as marriage advance amount.

This order from the TN govt would come into effect immediately and it would be applicable to those marriages that take place from the date of publication of this order. It is now said that the necessary amendment to the TN financial code would be published separately.
