Installation of surveillance cameras in all student hostels across TN!!
Minister for backward classes and minorities, Mr. Meyyanathan mentioned that steps would be taken to install surveillance cameras in all the student hostels in Tamil Nadu.
In Sivagangai district the minister made his presence felt. He spoke about how the students numbers have increased now than in the past and that is due to the 2 important schemes such as Pudhumai Penn thittam (announced in 2022) and Tamil Pudhalvan programme announced by the chief minister in 2024).
Information gathered is that in the last 4 years as many as 36 hostels for the students started to function across TN. In 2024 alone as many as19 hostels came into existence. In 2025, steps are being taken to open 10 hostels. It is sensational to mention that the students have been provided with Wi-Fi connections to read the books available at the famous Kalaignar Centenary Library online. With this, the students can read books from libraries present anywhere across the world.
The minister concluded that a cost of Rs 10.59cr surveillance cameras etc would be fitted in all the student hostels in TN and the students would be brought under surveillance ring.
