TN to Get 4 New Govt Arts & Science Colleges for Rural Students

The Tamil Nadu government will establish four new Government Arts and Science Colleges in the 2025–26 academic year to enhance access to higher education in rural areas.
The new colleges will come up in:
- K V Kuppam (Vellore)
- Thuraiyur (Tiruchirappalli)
- Ulundurpet (Kallakurichi)
- Chengam (Tiruvannamalai)
This initiative will benefit 1,120 students from these districts, Chief Minister M.K. Stalin announced on Friday.
The move follows the success of schemes like Pudumaipen and Tamil Puthlavan, which have boosted higher education enrolments in the state.
Additionally, the CM inaugurated 11 new Government Arts and Science Colleges via video conferencing on May 26, all set to start from the 2025–26 academic year.
