After a long wait from the Chennai passengers, an air-conditioned electric train was introduced between Chennai Beach and Chengalpet on 19th of April.
A new problem has now emerged regarding this a/c train. It is learnt that the coaches in this train are slightly wider by some millimetres and hence the coaches are rubbing against the platforms. As a result, the workers from the railway department have been hammering the coaches to fix them.
Truth is that the employees have identified abrasions that occur in the places where the box rubs on the platforms. They have been working to level those places with the help of hammers.
In the modern era, there are several technologies available for rectifying these types of issues. The railways department has been using hammers to rectify the defect in the electric train. As a result of this, the new coaches of this a/c electric train appear as if they have been in an accident.
Integral Coach Factory or ICF (founded in the year 1955) located in Perambur in Chennai has manufactured these coaches and they have not given any explanation till now.
