Important!! 12 substations to be set up in 9 districts in TN!!
Across the state of Tamil Nadu, the demand for electricity has been increasing continuously. Now, an important decision has been taken by the electricity transmission corporation.
As per the decision, it is now clear that an additional 12 substations would be set up across 9 districts belonging to TN. These 9 districts include Chennai, Kancheepuram, Chengalpet etc. For this, a huge amount of Rs 1192 cr would be spent.
Important piece of information is that 1 substation would be set up with a capacity of 400 kilovolt and the remaining 11 substations would be set up at a capacity of 110 kilovolts. It is known that an electrical substation is a subsidiary station of an electrical generation, transmission and distribution system. Here voltage gets transformed from high to low and vice-versa with the help of transformers.
Hosur substation would be established by the government of TN on a vast land area of 2000 acres in Krishnagiri district. For setting up of substations, 5 locations have been identified and 2 locations have been finalised also. Work is still going on to identify a new location for setting up of substation.
It is now brought to light that in the district 2 substations would be set up with a capacity of 100kv and 110kv. Two substations each would be set up in Chengalpattu, Namakkal district. With a capacity of 110 kilovolts, one substation would be set up in districts like Chennai, Kancheepuram, Erode, Madurai, Salem, Thanjavur.
It was mentioned by an official belonging to the electricity department that the officials have been asked to identify the locations in the districts selected for setting up of substations. A report must be submitted on this. He spoke about how project assessment would be prepared fast (once locations get finalised), approval would be obtained from the TN govt and work on constructing substations will start.
