A steady spell of rain disrupted the usual Monday morning rush in Chennai and its suburbs, with several parts of the city witnessing moderate showers since early hours. Key areas including Egmore, Triplicane, Royapettah, Anna Nagar, Korattur, Ambattur, and Villivakkam were among the localities affected by the rainfall.
The Regional Meteorological Center (RMC), Chennai, has forecasted moderate thunderstorms accompanied by lightning, with rain expected in one or two places across Chennai, Chengalpattu, Tiruvallur, Kancheepuram, and 18 other districts in Tamil Nadu.
Weather blogger Pradeep John, popularly known as the *Tamil Nadu Weatherman*, shared an update on social media:
> “For the next two hours, we can expect steady and solid rains to continue, with moments of increased intensity followed by consistent rainfall. This rain is much deserved for the city, as the entirety of North Tamil Nadu has received significant rainfall, akin to monsoon conditions.”
Commuters experienced delays due to waterlogging in low-lying areas, but the rain came as a welcome relief from the recent dry spell.
