Help centre for conservancy workers in Chennai!!

Here comes a superb piece of news for the conservancy workers in Chennai!!

On Wednesday, 23rd April, Chennai Mayor R. Priya inaugurated the help centre for conservancy workers at the Anna Nagar zonal office. It is now said that multiple centres would be opened across 15 zones belonging to GCC or Greater Chennai Corporation.

It is superb to mention that these centres would ensure that the conservancy workers could enjoy the benefits of various welfare schemes and other services provided by TN Sanitary Workers Welfare Board. The identity cards were distributed by the Chennai Mayor and she also issued booklets on the welfare schemes to the registered members of the board.

According to the release it was clear that all types of temporary workers and their families who register as members of the TN Sanitary Welfare Board would be provided with benefits like accident insurance scheme assistance, natural death benefit, allowance for marriage, education, maternity, funeral and old age pension.

Point to be noted is that it provides special benefits to core sanitation workers who are involved in formal or in-formal sewage related works. The benefits are vocational skills training, sanitation worker development scheme or SWDS identity cards, personal protective equipment, ensuring minimum wages, social security communication and livelihood schemes.

It is now mentioned that the sanitation workers could approach these centres and become members of the TN Sanitation Workers Welfare Board and could avail appropriate assistance and other services. By calling 1913 at the Integrated Command and Control Centre in the Ripon building complex, further information could be obtained.

The event also saw the presence of other important personalities such as GCC Commissioner Mr. J. Kumaragurubaran, Mr. M.K. Mohan. Anna Nagar MLA, Deputy Commissioner (works) Mr. J. Sivakrishnamurthy and Mr. K.J. Praveen Kumar and few others.
