Authorized internet centres to help voters

The process of applying through the net has been available for some time, but many people do not possess sufficient computer skills or are ignorant about the procedures to avail this service. In a bid to make the process of applying for voter ID through the internet accessible to more people, the election commission has partnered with several internet cafes to turn them into authorized voter ID help centres. The authorized internet centres that the Election Commission have partnered with will act as centres where people can go and get their applications done through the authorized personnel at the centre at a minimal cost.
According to officials, 944 internet centres have been identified across the state with 86 of those from Chennai.
For the convenience of users, the interface and the application will be bilingual and will feature both Tamil and English.
A number of services, including application for inclusion or deletion of name from electoral roll, modification of name and details, search services, transposition of names and registration of complaints can be availed at these centres.
