In response to the notable increase in ridership on the Chennai Metro Rail, starting from Monday, train services during non-peak hours on both line-1 and line-2 will now run every seven minutes.
The Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) released a statement emphasizing that this adjustment aims to alleviate crowding issues and reduce waiting times for passengers utilizing the Metro service. Previously, trains operated every nine minutes during non-peak hours, but in light of the significant surge in footfall, the department has opted to enhance efficiency by shortening the train frequency to every seven minutes, providing a more streamlined commuting experience.
