Removal of hawkers from the Madhavaram High Road gives relief to people. The 60-feet elongate a fundamental link between areas such as Perambur and Sembium in northern neighborhood and the main city, has been reduced to half its width over the years mainly due to encroachments. Officials of the Chennai Corporation along with police removed temporary petty shops and hawkers on both sides of the stretch near the Brinda theatre in Perambur on Thursday.
Corporation officials said that the removal of encroachments is part of the ‘Litter Free Zone’ concept introduced by the local body earlier this month.
