Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board has informed that as was observed and followed last year, crackers can be burnt for just 2 hours on the Deepavali festival day this year (2022) as well!

In a notification released by the Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board in this regard, it is mentioned:

"As per the judgment given by the Supreme Court, the State Government of Tamil Nadu has been following the restriction over the last few years that crackers MUST be burnt only for 2 hours from 6.00 AM to 7.00 AM and from 7.00 PM to 8.00 PM. This restriction for burning crackers just for 2 hours once in the morning and once in the evening WILL CONTINUE THIS YEAR (2022) AS WELL!

Burning crackers cause heavy pollution and also health! As such, the Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board has been making all-out efforts to create awareness of this among the citizens! As such, activities have been initiated to create awareness among the public through all schools, colleges, National Green Force, Green Councils, and self-volunteered organizations.

All district collectors have been asked to take the necessary activities regarding crackers burning!

For the citizens to follow:

The public has to strictly adhere to certain safety measures while celebrating Deepavali! They have to burn crackers which cause minimal pollution and minimal noise,

The citizens may obtain permission from the district administration and local administration and then proceed to collect together and burn crackers in open-air places. This can be arranged through the local welfare associations.

Avoid burning serial carmakers! Please avoid burbling crackers which create long continuous sounds. Avoid burning crackers in areas where hospitals, worship places, etc. which will ensure freedom from noise pollution. Also, avoid burning crackers in hutment areas, and places which can easily catch fire!"
