In this post-corona period, the public is showing huge interest in making digital payments.
As such, the State Government of Tamil Nadu is all set to introduce the facility of making payments through the QR Code system!
The Tamil Nadu State Minister for Cooperatives, I. Periyasamy observed in this regard:
"The new system of paying through Google Pay, Paytm, etc., will be introduced in all Fair Price Shops. In the first phase of this implementation, 10 Fair Price Shops in each district will be provided with this facility as `Model Fair Price Shops.
The QR code is to be printed in the bags in which rice is placed. As such, this will prevent the misdeed of smuggling/transporting rice to other states!
It is worth noting here the observation made by Central Finance Minister Nirmala Seetharaman:" Digital payments are being adopted by the public free of cost! We can reach a higher level of transparency of details through these digital transactions! As such, there is a proposal to introduce service charges for UPI services!"
