There are many families in the resettlement areas belonging to Chennai and these families would now feel delighted by this superb news.
Sporting facilities would be developed by the GCC in these resettlement areas. In the City habitat Development Committee Meeting that took place TNUHDB made a request for the sporting facilities in the resettlement areas. As per their request, plans have been made now for providing sporting facilities.
For developing the existing playgrounds present in Kannagi Nagar and Tsunami quarters in Thiruvottiyur zone, more than 10 projects have been sanctioned for Rs 4 crores. There would be development of sporting facilities as well as gymnasiums taken up in all the resettlement areas in Chennai. It is known that there are 15 sites with more than 1000 houses in Chennai.
In Kannagi Nagar, there is an empty ground without any facilities and this ground has been used as a playground. Many children would take up sports if this ground gets renovated with compound walls, high mast lights and sporting equipment etc.
Councillor from Kannagi Nagar Ashwini Karuna spoke about how by maintaining the grounds properly then anti social activities could be prevented easily. Three months back, for the sake of better coordination between various departments, the City Habitat development Committee was established.
