Marina Beach in Chennai is going to be different!!

Marina Beach, one of the highly preferred vacation spots in Chennai, would be different in the future.
The six kilometre stretch along the beautiful Marina Beach is said to be redeveloped by GCC soon. This has been one of the biggest attractions for many. It must be noted that redeveloping Marina Beach would be one of the beautification projects that would be carried out by the civic body.
It is worthy to note that GCC recently undertook small projects and this included lighting up an artificial waterfall and the rock fountain near the labour statue. By the end of this month of July, the theme would be finalised. This was mentioned by an officer belonging to the special projects department.
To discuss the feasibility and make sure that the timing does not intersect with ongoing projects belonging to other departments, consultations would be held with other departments such as Highways, Metro and CMDA etc. This would be done once the theme gets finalized.
According to a senior officer belonging to Chennai Corporation, Marina Beach has political as well as historical significance and therefore GCC would discuss with other departments before starting the re-developing work. There must not be any Coastal Regulation Zone violations or CRZ violations. The work would not be done in a hurried manner.
It is learnt that the smart kiosks that were designed and procured for Marina vendors still remain unused. The vendors were unhappy that the smart push carts were designed without consulting them. As per some vendors, the carts were not made to accommodate standing individuals for a long time with respect to size and design etc.
Chennai Corporation grabbed many eyeballs in 2017 when it took up beautification works at Marina Beach and Elliot`s Beach etc at a cost of Rs 29 crores. This was done by joining hands with the tourism department.
