Around 2010, alkaline foods (diet fad) started to become more popular and many people began eating them for the sake of their health. The reason for people preferring alkaline foods is due to the notion that it would be possible to alter the blood pH by altering the diet. It is believed that alkaline foods would provide relief from acidity and would help balance acid levels in us. The stomach would get cooled by consuming alkaline foods. It is known that during the process of digestion the gastric acid that is released by the stomach is slightly higher. It is therefore said that foods rich in alkaline content would provide relief to the digestive tracts.

Various alkaline foods we must eat are

Tofu intake:
Truth is that milk and other dairy products intake would have an acidic effect on the digestive system. Tofu made of soya milk is alkaline food and when consumed could prevent acid reflux issues.

Sweet potato intake:
Mildly acidic and alkaline in nature, sweet potatoes would help us to fight inflammation. The anti-inflammatory properties of sweet potatoes would cure chronic inflammation.

Sea salt intake:
Various minerals present in sea salt are iron, potassium, iodine and magnesium etc. Bacterial infections as well as viral diseases could be avoided with the help of sea salt. It could be sprinkled over salads and by using seas salt for cooking would boost the immunity.

Mushroom intake:
Mushrooms are alkaline in nature and those persons who suffer from acid reflux issue must consume mushrooms as it is known to be alkaline forming.

Brown rice intake:
When compared to white rice, brown rice is less acidic in nature and it would provide relief from acidity issues etc. Truth is that the fibrous content of brown rice would calm down heartburn. Brown rice is highly healthy.

Cauliflower intake:
The risk of getting cancerous diseases would get reduced when a person eats the cruciferous vegetable cauliflower. The alkaline pH in the body would be balanced by the cauliflower. Intake of this cruciferous vegetable would also provide us with numerous benefits like weight loss, supports hormonal balance etc.
