Meendum Manjappai Campaign-In all the 38 districts in TN, District Climate Change Missions set up!!

For creating a strong policy support across all sectors belonging to the governance plus devise strategies to reduce the greenhouse gas emissions and benchmark industries to move towards green manufacturing etc, District Climate Change Missions have been established by the government of TN now in all the 38 districts.
It is important to note that the collectors would be Mission Directors and District Forest Officers would be the Climate Officers. Supriya Sahu, additional chief secretary, department of environment climate change and forest, mentioned that the missions would help to strengthen the government`s climatic response at the grass root level. She added that the missions would also promote eco-friendly technologies like solar and wind energy technologies, biodegradable packaging and e-vehicles etc.
The other important objectives of the missions would be to educate the local communities in the climate change management and create technologies for the evidence based green models for adaptation and practical models for green mobility etc. Various works the collectors would be doing are preparing district level climate change mitigation and adaptation plans, building capacity and providing inputs for low carbon climate resilient development plans. The collectors would also be playing huge roles in strengthening the Meendum Manjappai Campaign against the use of single use plastics.
