The hike in the fuel prices has been responsible for the increase in the prices of commodities, essentials and prices of vegetables etc. On Tuesday, 31st May 2022, the prices of vegetables came down by 20%. This has grabbed many eyeballs now.

The supply of vegetables increased at the popular Koyambedu wholesale market in Chennai and due to this the prices of veggies reduced by 20percent.  The superb piece of news is that the prices of vegetables would further go down in the coming days. This was brought out by some sources.

Mr. P. Sukumaran, treasurer, Koyambedu Wholesale Merchants Association mentioned that initially 400 truckloads of vegetables were received at the market and now the truckloads have increased to 430 to 450 vehicles. This was due to the fact that the rains have reduced in states like AP and Karnataka. The prices of vegetables such as tomatoes, broad beans, brinjal and ladies finger were reduced by 20percent.

There price of vegetables like cucumber, chow chow, snake gourd, bottle gourd etc increased due to shortage. It is now said that the price of these vegetables would change soon when the supply becomes more. This was as per a retail trader at the Koyambedu market. From next week onwards, the price of vegetables will drop by 10 to 20%. It is important to mention that from Saturday onwards there have been ninety percent brisk sales in the vegetables after the price was reduced. There has been drastic reduction even in the wastage of the vegetables
