Flood prone Anakaputhur, Pallavaram, Pammal and Tambaram etc to begin the fight against floods!!

At a cost of Rs 30 crores, SWD or storm water drains would be built in various localities like Anakhaputhur, Pallavaram, Pammal and Tambaram for an 11km stretch. The Tambaram Corporation would begin the work soon. The building of SWD in these places would get over in 6 months. The Corporation has released tenders following administrative sanction and allocation under the flood mitigation funds 2021-22.
Those localities that went under floods in the last monsoon season have been given more preference now. This was according to a senior official belonging to GCC. The entire neighbourhood has been taken for study and places were chosen. If the construction of SWDs got completed on time, then it would prevent flooding in the monsoon season. At a cost of Rs `16.9 crores, 4 packages would be in Tambaram and for Rs 9.31 crores there would be 7 packages in Pammal and one package in Anakaputhur for a cost of Rs 4.35 crores etc .
With the help of RCC lining, all the drainages would be closed. It must be noted that most of the drains must be built near water bodies like Idumban Lake and Thiruvanchery Lake in Tambaram and Navadai Lake in Pammal etc.
