An important announcement for family ration-card holders: A new procedure is to be adopted!

During a recent Legislative Assembly Session, MLA R. P. Raja brought an attention-seeking petition on the difficulties faced in the ration shops regarding the registration of fingerprints.
In reply, the Tamil Nadu State Government Minister for Food Supply Chakrapani explained that as per the current procedure, the family ration card is linked with the Aadhar card and after registration of fingerprints, food items are sold.
As per this, if any of the members registered on the ration card is eligible to buy the ration items. The State Food Minister Chakrapani further explained that as regards the senior citizens and differently-abled citizens, if not well, can send their representatives and buy the requir3d ration items.
The application forms for sending representatives are available in the ration shops and the exclusive special website. The Minister further explained that the ration-card holder can download/obtain the forms, fill up and send the representatives along with that and buy the required ration items.
Tamil Nadu State Food Minister Chkarapani further informed that out of the 239803 approved ration shops in the State of Tamil Nadu, 98.23% of the ration cards are utilized with the fingerprint registration verification method He further explained that several problems, including the fingerprint registration problem, are being frequently encountered.
The Minister further shared that in the states of Maharashtra, Telangana, and Assam, the system of verification of the pupils of the eyes is being adopted. Subsequently, this system is being proposed to be tried out in 2 of the urban and rural localities
This system will be upgraded gradually throughout the State of Tamil Nadu!
