Do not lose money on fraudsters: warns Indian Post

The Indian Post has warned people not to trust any fake websites and fake URL addresses that claim to give gifts and other offers.

According to a report from the Indian Post, the authority has recently come to notice of the widespread of fake URLs on social media, including WhatsApp, Instagram, emails, text messages that promise to provide gifts and government-sponsored gifts. These messages are spreading every second and people should not believe them.

Indian Post has clarified that it has not involved in any such gift promises. No subsidies or incentives were announced by the authority. People who receive such false messages and notifications should not believe it without verifying. Also, it is strongly advisable not to share the date of birth, bank account numbers, phone numbers, place of birth, and one-time password (OTP).

The India Post is taking appropriate action against those who spread such fake information. People are being re-urged not to rely on such fake SMS and announcements.

The India Post release has said that the URLs and websites that spread these information through social media were identified fake by the fact checking department of the Press Information Office.
