Superb news!! Rs 250 crores allotted for widening of Adyar River and Kosasthalaiyar River now!!

An amount of Rs 250 crores has been allotted by the Tamil Nadu state government in the phase-1 for widening Kosasthalaiyar and Adyar Rivers, for de-silting channels and strengthening bunds etc. The objective behind this was to prevent flooding.
To carry out flood mitigation works, WRD has submitted a proposal of Rs 1297.49 crores. This was mentioned by a senior officer from WRD. He then added that in the first phase an amount of RS 250 crores was allotted and with this fund Kosasthalaiyar River as well as Adyar River would be widened to prevent flooding in Chennai district and in the Kancheepuram district.
Sluices in Porur, Ramapuram and Pallikaranai lakes would be repaired. Soon, de-silting of Kolathur Lake would be carried out. It must be taken into note that the chief minister of Tamil Nadu has inspected the areas like Adanur, Manimangalam, Somangalam, Varadharajapuram, Orathur, Mudichur etc through which the Adyar River flows.
