This piece of news would surely surprise many Chennai residents!!
The 22 assembly constituencies belonging to the Chennai Corporation would become 22 zones!! Point is that the Chennai zones would be increased to 22 zones from the present 15 zones. By this, travel distances would be reduced for the public seeking civic services.
Now, the constituencies fall under 2 or more zones is a well known fact. It is important to mention here that the Tirivottriyur assembly constituency falls under Thiruvottiyur zone as well as Manali zone. In the same way, Madhavaram assembly constituency falls under Madhavaram zone as well as the Manali zone. It must not be forgotten that T. Nagar assembly constituency falls under Teynampet zone and Kodambakkam zone.
Information collected is that once the scheme gets implemented then Tiruvottriyur constituency would become a separate zone. It is learnt that all urban local bodies that are currently governed by separate Acts would be brought under the TN Urban Local Bodies Act. Chennai City Municipal Corporation Act governs Chennai Corporation now and there are exclusive Acts for other city corporations too. To ensure transparency in the urban local body, the TN government would implement a smart governance system.
To create awareness on cleanliness, a people�s movement would be launched. In the Elliots Beach, a permanent pathway would be laid for those who are differently able for an amount of Rs 1crore. It is superb to mention that the corporation schools in Chennai would also be upgraded and an amount of Rs 60 cr0res would be spent for this purpose.
