The railway project linking Velachery and Taramani has been completed and has been rendered for public service without any formal inaugural function or any celebration marking an important event!
The railway administration had decided to an 80 feet wide interior circular road near the track for a distance of 3.5 km.
With this road, the citizens residing in Velachery, Perungudi, Taramani and the surrounding areas can now access the Railway Stations and the OMR (Old Mahabalipuram Road) quite easily!
Residents of Adambakkam, Velachery, Ullagaram, and Madippkkam can avail of quick travel to Perungudi and Taramani.
The road construction work commenced 6 years ago!
With another project of the rainwater drainage system in Velachery`s surrounding areas nearing completion, there is a 200 ft wide water canal route.
Leaving this aside, the road and the rainwater drainage system were set up in 2016.
A fund of Rs. 4 Crores was reserved in the year 2018 to construct a bridge across the above canal
This project was delayed due to various reasons including a shortage of workers, coronavirus pandemic lockdown periods, the monsoon rainfall, etc. However, the construction work was resumed in June 2021. The work came to completion last month.
