Posted on: 09/Feb/2022 9:25:55 AM
Last year on 13th September, the CM of Tamil Nadu Mr. M.K. Stalin had announced that under rule 110 jewellery loans received from the cooperative banks up to 5 pounds would be waived to help the farmers. On 1st of November in 2021, the TN government had issued certain guidelines for those who are eligible and those who are not eligible for jewellery waiver loan. It is known that a team consisting of jewellery inspectors and bank employees from outside the district was set up to look after this issue. Point is that data was obtained also.

It must be noted that the registrar of cooperative societies has sent a circular to various authorities. The circular mentioned about the data that was obtained regarding multiple jewellery loans obtained by the family members using the same ration card, list of various gold loans issued using the same Aadhaar number etc. It is now said that under the deputy registrar a list would have to be prepared about those who have the eligibility for waivement of loans and those who are ineligible. The list must be sent to various other cooperative societies also.

A final list would have to be prepared where one ration card was used to issue one or more than one loan of more than 40gms gold jewellery loans. The list would also include loans issued to one or more than one person for more than 40gms gold jewellery loans using the same Aadhaar number.

Information is that if there is any doubt regarding those who are eligible then they must be added to the list of those who are ineligible. Valid reasons must be provided for that. The detailed list of those persons who are eligible for gold jewellery loan waivement and those who are ineligible for loan waivement must be sent to the registrars office by 11th February.
