Curfew during the night periods and a total 1oo% lockdown imposition on all Sundays were imposed in the State of Tamil Nadu as a preventive measure to check and prevent the fast and widespread of the third wave of the coronavirus pandemic and its variant Omicron.
Subsequently, a detailed review meeting, presided by the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, was conducted on 27th January on reviewing the prevailing corona preventive measures and restrictions and the possibility for any relaxations.
As such, as a reflection of the various activities undertaken by the State Government of Tamil Nadu, it was informed on behalf of the State Government Department of Health that the extent of spread of the third wave infection has been reduced perceptibly and though all necessary infrastructure has been kept ready to face any adversity, the number of patients admitted to the hospitals has been considerably lesser!
As per the above status, the State Government of Tamil Nadu decided to announce some further relaxation!
Schools Opening: Direct classes will be conducted in all schools for the students from the 1st Standard to the 12th Standard. Except thus colleges which are presently serving as Corona Protection Centres, all other Public and Private Universities, colleges, Industrial Training Institutes will all function from tomorrow (1st February) while strictly following the guidelines for check and prevention of the coronavirus pandemic spread!
In a similar aspect of relaxation, permission has been granted for the public to visit the major beaches in Chennai Metro City!
The Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) has ordered that the public may visit these beaches while adhering to keeping the social distancing, and wearing facial masks.
Further, with the earlier announcement that the Vandalur Zoological Park and Guindy Children�s Park will remain closed from the 17th January till today (Monday, 31st January), it is now announced that these (Arignar Anna Vandalur Zoological Park & the Guindy Children�s Park) will reopen from tomorrow (Tuesday, 1st February).
