The Health Minister of the State Government of Tamil Nadu, M. Subramanian, informed today (Thursday, 23rd December) that 33 citizens in the State have been confirmed with the corona variant Omicron infection.
With the new variant of the coronavirus Omicron spreading hard and fast across the world, corona infection checks are carried out for the persons coming from foreign countries in all the airports in the State of Tamil Nadu. On this, 1 citizen has been confirmed with Omicron infection.
In this scenario, the Health Minister of the State Government of Tamil Nadu had a session with the press reporters today (Thursday, 23rd December):
�On checking the 18129 passengers coming from abroad at the airports for the coronavirus infection, 114citizens have been confirmed with coronavirus infection. In the genes transformation test undertaken, 57 citizens were confirmed with genes transformation.
In this situation, the genes samples of all the 114 persons infected were sent for a genes transformation test, the results for 60 samples have been released. Out of these, 33 persons were confirmed with Omicron variant of the coronavirus infection. As such, with 1 person already confirmed with omicron infection, a total of 34 persons were confirmed with omicron infection.
Out of the 34, 3 persons who were in contact with foreign travellers were confirmed with omicron infection. A person who came from Kerala was also tested and confirmed with omicron infection.
District wise, 28 from Chennai, 4 from Madurai, 2 from Thiruvannamalai, 1 from Salem, and 1 from Kerala are undergoing treatment in the hospitals.
It may be noted that all the affected persons have only mild symptoms. All are in generally good health. Out of the affected 34 persons, except for 2 persons under the age of 18, the rest all have been administered with corona vaccination!�
